Foldham
I have a liking for green diesels and have acquired a few BR Eastern Region examples over the years. These are of types typical of Essex and East Anglia - Classes 15, 16, 31 & 37, plus the W&M railbus, Cravens 105 and Derby Lightweight DMU.
The theme is an Great Eastern backwater, combining influences from a number of branch lines.
BASEBOARD
Starting with a standard 4x2 sheet of MDF, this was cut on a slight diagonal. Once framed it was hinged in the centre to give a baseboard 8ft long by 9 inches at one end and 15 inches at the other. A sector plate fiddle yard is housed at the wider end. The board folds, hence the layout name - Foldham!
TRACK
Peco code 75. Life is too short and I am too impatient to build my own pointwork!
CONTROL
Persuaded by friends at Worthing MRC, I have taken the plunge into DCC, using a Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance.
After 6 exhibitions, Foldham was sold on (January 2018) - to create space for the next layout!
